WebJul 28, 2024 · Yes, Epifanes over epoxy is a problem. I ran into it a couple times before the light went on, epi just wont cure over epoxy unless the epoxy has been well, well cured: weeks. Its not cleaning, amine blush, or anything that can be remedied by cleaning/sanding etc. I just switched to another varnish I dont like as well, but at least it cured. WebJun 22, 2024 · Epifanes is notoriously slow to cure sometimes. I would give it another week and see if it cures. If not, I would try thinning with the recommended thinner 50% and try again, then 25%, then full strength. Did you wipe the epoxy with anything before varnish? Let us know how you make out. Definitely sand it all off, and start over. Get actual mineral spirits, or better yet, use Epifanes thinner. Scott. Now is a good time! Each coat is sanded or scuffed enough to remove bugs, dust, etc and every 2-3 coats are sanded/scraped enough to become smooth.
